Hi-Audio receives a WAC 2025 Best Poster Award
By J. Gil

We are delighted to share that Hi-Audio received a Best Poster Award (short paper) at the 9th Web Audio Conference (WAC 2025), held at IRCAM in Paris, France, from November 19 to 21, 2025.

The award recognizes the short paper:

“A Maximum Length Sequence-based method for robust round-trip latency estimation in online Digital Audio Workstations”
J. M. Gil Panal, Gael Richard, Aurelien David

Highlights

  • It introduces a novel signal-acoustics-based method, using an MLS approach, to estimate round-trip latency robustly in online DAWs.
  • The approach is designed for browser-based audio creation environments, where accurate synchronization is essential.
  • The method is implemented in Hi-Audio, our open-source web-based DAW platform.

Why it matters

When recording, monitoring, or aligning audio tracks online, even small latency variations can affect the user experience and the precision of music production workflows. This work proposes a novel method grounded in acoustic signal processing to measure and compensate for that latency directly in web audio environments, and evaluates the method across devices, browsers, and operating systems.
