AI : science, machine learning, philosphy and ethics
By M. Lagrange

In this talk, Mathieu Lagrange raises ethical and philosophical questions relating to recent machine learning advances.

Abstract

Considering recent achievements in machine learning, notably with deep architectures, numerous ethical questions are now being raised by the scientific community and the general public about the potential of AI. To go beyond black and white opinions, it is useful to discuss the current the state of the art in machine learning but also study differents philosophical threads that, I believe, have been driving such technological and scientifical achievements. This will be the purpose of this talk that will end on concrete propositions for easing ethical questionnning in our communiity about those matters.
